James Corban
At almost 21, James Corban shocked New Zealand motorsport - considerably beating the lap times of seasoned international professional drivers at the NZ Racing Academy in the same car.
Within his first two seasons, James won two New Zealand series titles: the BMW Open C Endurance Championship and the Formula Open New Zealand FT40 Championship.
Now behind the wheel of Oracle Insurances’ Honda EK Civic in the Production Race Series - New Zealand’s largest grid - James is proving his consistency, adaptability, and racecraft.
Driven by faith, resilience, and a relentless work ethic, James is building a professional motorsport career step by step. James is ready and maximising any opportunity that arises, with his eyes set on Formula Regional Oceania.
He loves doing his racing with his partners, and is inviting more to join him on the journey.
“James showed talent at the academy that I had only seen from the top 1% before him. He was teachable, took on my advice, and became faster than my professional instructors on his second day in a car. From that, I got him onto a race team to get him started in motorsport."
Daniel Gaunt, Hampton Downs Racing Academy co-owner, professional racing driver, Toyota Racing Series champion, and Australian driver’s champion.
